Ganesha is a very popular Hindu god. He has an elephant head and a big round belly. Ganesha is the god of new beginnings, wisdom, and remover of obstacles.

Once a year, there is a special festival just for Ganesha called Ganesh Chaturthi. This festival lasts for 10 days.

During Ganesh Chaturthi, people bring home little statues of Ganesha and decorate them beautifully. They pray to the Ganesha statues and ask for blessings.

Families and friends get together to sing, dance, and eat yummy food like modaks, which are Ganesha's favorite. They offer the sweets to the Ganesha statue as prasad.

On the last day, everyone takes the Ganesha statues to nearby rivers or lakes. They immerse the statues in the water while chanting β€œGanpati Bappa Morya!” This is to send Ganesha back to his home after the festivities.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a very lively and fun festival. It is a time to celebrate community, ask Ganesha for help in overcoming problems, and spread joy. That is why we celebrate each year!
